U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had previously announced that Temporary Projected Status (TPS) for eligible citizens of South Sudan would be extended through May 2, 2022. On November 2, 2020, USCIS opened the period during which South Sudanese with TPS can apply to reregister, which will continue through January 4, 2021.
Work permits for South Sudanese who have TPS expired on November 2, 2020. However, USCIS announced that those work permits are automatically extended through May 1, 2021. TPS holders can show their employers this Federal Register notice as proof of their work permit extensions, while they apply to extend their TPS status and work permits.
